Reading EI
The goal of level EI is for students to develop a deeper understanding of the links between clauses, between sentences and between paragraphs in a passage, and thus become more aware of the logical flow of a passage.
● Level EI Goals:
Learn how clauses function as nouns, adjectives, or adverbs
Analyze complex sentences
Develop reading comprehension
Comprehend how paragraphs are organized (using graphs/charts)
● Good Work Skills in this level include:
Reading directions and examples carefully
Reading passages for comprehension
Being able to remember and completely write the correct answer or sentence
Using capitalization and punctuation in sentences
Ability to correct easily and independently (don’t forget to grade every day!)
● Time Goal:
3-4 minutes per page
The study time goal is 15-20 minutes per day
Your Instructor will continually adjust the pages to adhere to this goal
● Grading Reminders:
Students must be able to learn from their mistakes daily
Take the time to grade and let them find and correct their own errors independently
Students can use what they have learned and apply it to the next day’s assignment allowing them to move smoothly and independently through the assignments
Do not count off for minor mistakes. For example, if the gradebook says the answer is “Jenny walked to the kitchen” and the student puts “She walked into the kitchen”, do not take points off
Remember, these answers DO NOT have to be word for word based on the gradebook answers
